Common questions

Can I use Japan Convoy Shipping if I did not buy through Japan Convoy?

Yes. The service is open to anyone with cargo in Japan, whether you bought it through our marketplace, at auction, from a dealer, or it is already sitting at a yard or warehouse. You do not need an account.

How much does it cost to ship from Japan?

There is no fixed price, because ocean freight depends on your route, volume, container type, sailing date and the charges at both ports. That is why we collect your details and come back with a written quote from a logistics partner instead of publishing a rate card. Asking is free and carries no obligation.

What is the difference between FCL and LCL?

FCL means you book an entire container for your cargo alone, and LCL means your cargo shares a container and you pay for the space you use. FCL is usually cheaper per cubic metre once you can fill most of a container; LCL suits smaller consignments of roughly one to fifteen cubic metres.

Can you ship a car from Japan?

Yes. A vehicle can travel by RoRo, driven onto a dedicated car carrier, or inside a container, which suits multiple cars or a car shipped alongside parts. Tell us the make, model and year in the form and the quote will cover the method that fits.

Which Japanese ports do you load from?

We can arrange shipping from the major Japanese export ports including Yokohama, Kobe, Nagoya, Osaka, Hakata and Moji. If you do not know your port, leave it blank and the partner will suggest the closest one to your cargo.

Does Japan Convoy operate the vessels?

No. Japan Convoy collects and qualifies shipping enquiries and connects you with approved logistics partners who carry out the transport. The freight contract, the sailing and the handling of your cargo sit with that licensed partner.
